Privacy
The short answer. There is no form on this website. Not one. No page asks for your name, your email address, your phone number, your home address or your payment details, and there is no account to create. If you want to reach us, you email us, and that is entirely your choice.
Many of the people who use this site have good reason to be careful about what they leave behind online. We built it accordingly, and this page describes exactly what happens.
Nothing on This Site Collects Information
We want to be more specific than most privacy pages are, because a vague promise is worth nothing.
- No accounts. There is nothing to sign up for and no login for visitors.
- No contact form. The contact page publishes an email address. Writing to it is your decision and your own mail program.
- No newsletter or mailing list. We do not ask for your email address anywhere on this site.
- No comments. Comments are turned off site wide, which removes the one place a visitor would have been asked to type a name and an email.
- No payment collection. No page on this site takes a card number or bank details.
- No advertising and no advertising trackers. We do not sell, rent or share information about visitors with anyone, and there is nothing to sell.
The Study Tools Never Send Anything
The practice test, the civics tutor and the filing date checker all run entirely inside your own browser.
The practice test and the filing date checker keep nothing at all. Your answers and the date you type disappear when you close the tab.
The tutor does remember your progress between visits, because a study tool that forgets everything each time is useless. It stores that progress in your browser’s own local storage, on your own device. It is never transmitted to us or to anyone else, we cannot read it, and clearing your browser data erases it. Using a private window means it is gone the moment you close the window.
You do not need an account to use any of these, and you never will.
Please Do Not Send Us Documents
If you email us, we have your message and your email address, the same as any email.
We ask you not to send us personal documents. We do not need your date of birth, your account numbers, or scans of anything to answer a question about how government works, and we would rather not hold information we have no use for.
What the Server Sees
Like any website, the host serving these pages records standard request information: the page requested, the time and a network address. That is a normal part of delivering a web page and it is not used to build a profile of you.
Fonts
The typefaces load from Google Fonts, which means your browser makes a request to Google to fetch them. If we move to hosting the fonts ourselves, that request goes away, and this page will say so when it changes.
Administration
The site runs on WordPress, so there is an administrator login for the people who publish here. It is for staff only, it is excluded from search engines, and it has nothing to do with visitors. You will never be asked to log in to read anything on this site.
Who We Are
We Are Americans Foundation is a private nonprofit organization publishing civic education. We are not a government agency and we are not affiliated with one. We do not endorse candidates or parties. We charge nothing and we sell nothing.
Nothing on this site is legal advice.
