Donate to We Are Americans Foundation
The short answer
Why This Site Asks for Money at All
There is a gap between what the government publishes and what a person can actually read. Federal agencies write accurately and almost unreadably. Law firms write clearly and then ask for a retainer. In the middle sits a lawful permanent resident with a naturalization interview in six weeks and no idea which version of the civics test applies to them.
This organization exists to close that gap, in plain language, in two languages, for nothing. That decision has a cost, and the cost does not go away because the site is free. Somebody pays it. Right now that is a small group of people who decided this should exist.

What We Will Not Do With Your Money
An organization is defined as much by its refusals as its promises. These are ours, in writing.
- We will not endorse a candidate or a party. Not now, not when it would be convenient, not in exchange for a gift of any size. A Republican official and a Democratic official both have to be able to send a constituent here without hesitating.
- We will not sell, rent, or share your data. The practice test runs entirely in your browser. The filing date checker never sends your date anywhere. We built it that way on purpose, because the people who use this site have good reasons to be careful.
- We will not put anything behind a paywall. Not the question banks, not the practice test, not the Spanish pages. If a donation ever becomes the price of access, this organization has failed at the thing it was made to do.
- We will not tell you your gift saved someone. We cannot see who reads this or what happens to them afterward, and pretending otherwise to raise money would be the first lie on a site whose only asset is being trustworthy.
Common Questions
- Is my donation tax deductible?
- We Are Americans Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, so donations are tax deductible to the extent the law allows. We are not tax advisors and your own situation may differ, so check with yours.
- Do I have to be a citizen to donate?
- No. Anyone lawfully able to make a charitable gift may give. Donating to a nonprofit is not a political contribution and the rules that restrict political giving by non citizens do not apply to it.
- Can I give in someone’s name?
- Yes. People often give in the name of a relative who naturalized, or a teacher who helped them study. Write to us and we will note it.
- Does giving get me anything?
- A receipt, and nothing else. No influence over what we publish, no advertising, no listing that implies endorsement. That is deliberate.
- Can my company or foundation give?
- Yes, and we will answer any due diligence questionnaire you send. Institutional funders should write to us directly rather than using the online form.
